Frequently asked questions
The practical questions, answered before the truck arrives.
ModuStone products are large, permanent masonry features. Here are the questions customers, contractors and designers are most likely to have while planning an order.
The system
The system
What is ModuStone?
ModuStone is a modular masonry system for outdoor fireplaces, kitchens, fire pits, seating and related features. The skilled masonry work is completed off site so the finished product can be delivered and set on a prepared site.
Is it real stone?
Yes. ModuStone products are designed as genuine masonry features with natural stone exterior finishes, not printed or plastic imitation stone.
What is the advantage of building it in modules?
Moving the masonry work off site can reduce weather delays, specialized on-site labour and the amount of time a project spends under construction.
Can I choose the stone and finish?
Standard finish selections can be offered for straightforward ordering, while custom stone, mortar and coping selections can be discussed for projects that need a particular look.

Product & construction
Does the stonework arrive finished?
Yes. The visible natural-stone masonry is completed during fabrication. ModuStone is intended to arrive as a finished masonry product, not as a concrete shell waiting for a separate veneer crew.
How heavy are ModuStone products?
They are substantial masonry products. A standard 48" × 48" fire pit is approximately 2,600 lb, depending on finish. A representative 8-foot fireplace is approximately 8,000 lb and is planned as a two-piece assembly. Final weights are confirmed for the actual order.
What is inside a ModuStone fire pit?
The standard fire pit uses a reinforced concrete base, a substantial masonry core, refractory firebrick and mortar, natural-stone exterior masonry and stainless-steel components. The standard 48" × 48" base is approximately 4.75" thick.
Are ModuStone fire pits wood-burning?
Yes. The current Signature, Heritage and Estate fire pit collections are designed around a traditional wood fire.
Is ModuStone a lightweight kit?
No. The system changes where the masonry is built, not whether it is masonry. The products are planned as permanent outdoor features with the mass, stone finish and handling requirements that come with substantial construction.
Ordering & finishes
Ordering & finishes
Can I order online?
Products and options that are enabled in the Shop can be ordered online. Large, customized or long-distance freight orders may still require delivery confirmation or a written quote before the order is finalized.
Do you require a deposit?
Payment schedules depend on the product and order. Any required deposit, balance due date and other commercial terms will be shown in the applicable quote, checkout or order confirmation before you commit.
How long does an order take?
Production time varies with the product, finish, customization and current workload. A current lead-time estimate is confirmed when the order is reviewed.
How is delivery calculated?
Delivery depends on the finished unit, destination, route, unloading requirements and site access. Local delivery may be straightforward, while regional and Canada-wide freight are confirmed for the specific order.
What warranty applies?
Product-specific warranty terms, exclusions, claim procedures and remedies are stated in the written warranty or order documentation applicable to the product. General information about damage, defects and warranty is also available in the Terms of Use & Ordering.
Delivery & installation
Delivery & installation
What access is needed for delivery?
Heavy masonry products require an appropriate delivery and lifting plan. We need to know about driveway width, grades, overhead wires, soft ground, gates and the distance from the unloading point to the prepared base.
Do I need a concrete pad?
Most heavy masonry features need a stable prepared base, but the exact foundation depends on the product, site conditions and local requirements. Follow the installation information provided for the selected unit.
Who installs ModuStone products?
Depending on the product and site, installation may be completed by ModuStone, a landscape or general contractor, a mason, or another qualified installer with the equipment and experience required for the unit. The installer is receiving a pre-built masonry product rather than recreating the stonework from scratch.
What lifting equipment is required?
The correct equipment depends on product weight, reach, ground conditions and access. Depending on the project, a telehandler, forklift, crane or other suitable lifting equipment may be used. The order-specific lift plan should be based on confirmed product information.
How long does installation take?
Once the site, base and lifting plan are ready, the placement portion can often be completed in hours. The total project time depends on the product, access, number of modules and any remaining chimney, appliance, utility or hardscape work.
What about gas, electrical or appliance connections?
Where a project includes utilities or appliances, final connections must be completed in accordance with the appliance instructions and applicable local requirements by appropriately qualified trades where required.

Can contractors and dealers buy ModuStone?
Yes. Contractors, builders, landscape companies, stone yards, designers and potential dealers can contact us through the Trade page to discuss projects and trade relationships.
Can ModuStone products be delivered outside Prince Edward Island?
Yes. Regional and longer-distance freight across Canada can be planned. The practical limit is determined by freight cost, route, unit size, receiving access and the unloading or lifting plan rather than an arbitrary geographic boundary.
Can a local contractor receive and install a ModuStone product?
Yes. That is one of the main advantages of a product-based system. A capable local contractor can prepare the site, coordinate lifting and complete the specified finishing or connections using the product information provided for the order.
Are you looking for dealers?
Yes. ModuStone is developing relationships with contractors, stone yards, outdoor-living showrooms and other businesses that can specify, display, sell or help install the product line in their region. Start on the Trade page.
How do natural stone variations affect my order?
Natural stone varies in colour, texture, veining and shape. Samples and photographs are useful references, but natural material should be expected to have variation from piece to piece.
Have a project-specific question?
The fastest way to get a useful answer is to include the product, project location and anything unusual about delivery access or the site.
